Summary:

This is a Grant-Funded Position: This position is located in the Adult Services Division, Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). The mission of the Adult Services Division is to ensure the quality of direct care services provided by the agency as well as further the missions and goals of the agency throughout the District of Columbia to help ensure quality delivery of behavioral health services to its citizens. The incumbent of this position serves as the Harm Reduction Coordinator for specific SOR harm reduction initiatives with responsibility for overseeing aspects of the SOR grant, primarily regarding the District’s naloxone distribution and education program as well as other harm reduction initiatives (e.g., fentanyl test strip (FTS) distribution and education). The incumbent coordinates day-to-day implementation of activities and monitoring of initiative outcomes; assists in providing technical assistance and collaborates with the SOR team around other related initiatives, as required.

Qualifications: This position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Duration of Appointment: Term Appointment (Not to Exceed 13 Months)

Work Experience: Skill in collecting and coordinating data collection activities associated with grant program implementation.

Work Environment: The work is performed primarily in an office setting. Attendance and participation in evening or weekend meetings may be required.

Physial Demands: Work assignments require travel to sites throughout the District of Columbia with infrequest out-of-District travel. Periods of walking, bending, lifting, climbing, standing, sitting, and use of a computer for long periods of time are required in the performance of assigned duties.

Tour of Duty: 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Monday thru Friday

Residency Requirement:

A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of a non-expired DC Driver’s License or Non-driver’s license and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Position Designation: This position is deemed as “Security Sensitive” pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations, in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying security sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests:

  • Criminal background check;
  • Traffic record check (as applicable);
  • Consumer credit check (as applicable);
  • Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test; and
  • Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test.
