This is a part-time housekeeping position at A Vista d’Mar.

Our Goal
Our goal is to provide great customer service and exceptionally clean and well-maintained beachfront condos for our guests. Flexibility, energy, and awesome customer service are key!

Duties: Assist head housekeeper as needed and fill in on their days off. Keep up with laundry and maintenance. Responsibility and efficiency are key items. This includes strict honesty, willingness to shoulder new responsibilities, and learning our cleaning methods at A Vista d'Mar.

Physical requirements for this job

  • Traveling up and down two sets of 15 stairs, multiple times a day
  • Moving occasional furniture
  • Carrying vacuum, steam mop, and rug doctor upstairs (35+ lbs)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Wipe exterior office window ledge, window ledges along the catwalk, and #1 window ledges across the street side and under stairs.
  • Empty all vacuum cleaners and dryer lint traps
  • Leave all washer doors open at end of the day
  • Remove everything from the office desktop and wipe/disinfect the desk, computer, microwave, printer
  • Sweep office floor
  • Remove everything from the little laundry room tabletop; wipe table surface plus machine surfaces in the little laundry
  • Sweep little laundry room
  • Remove everything from main laundry countertops; wipe countertops plus machine surfaces in the main laundry
  • Sweep main laundry floor
  • Put away tools in the shop
  • Sweep shop floor
  • Shake and wipe tablecloth in the storage room under steps, wipe off tote (and restock if needed)
  • In the upstairs storage room, remove all supplies from shelves and wipe down; restock as needed
  • Wash office and shop window
  • Housekeeping
  • Hours are flexible (doing laundry or quiet work until 10 am), with the exception of 11 am - 4 pm as the critical window for housekeeping.

Housekeeping details
This position shares housekeeping/laundry services with our head housekeeper, cleaning 20-25 condos/week. This is an average of 4-5 cleanings/day.

Clean and disinfect condos in a timely manner after guests leave, working efficiently.

Average cleaning times for:
3 bedroom - 2 to 3 hr
2 bedroom - 1 to 2 hr
1 bedroom/studio - 50 min to 1.5 hr

Ensure all laundry is done the same day, or if it was a heavy cleaning day, all laundry should be done by the following day.

Work organization
Take supplies for only one condo at a time.

At the end of the day, clean and restock your cleaning tote to be ready for the following workday. All dirty rags should be deposited into the bin labeled “dirty rags” in the laundry room.

Cleaning steps for a one-bedroom condo

  • Take dirty laundry tote & cleaning supplies to the condo. Open windows and glass door
  • Gather sheets and towels, “spot treat” stains with Dawn & elbow grease in the condo

Bathroom

  • Wipe bathroom window ledge, scrub toilet and flush, empty trash to the kitchen trash can
  • Clean shower, sink, and mirror
  • Hang folded towels on bathroom bars & put rolled washcloths in baskets

Bedroom

  • Carry dirty linens to the laundry room, and begin washing
  • Retrieve new bed linens, towels, parking pass, inventory, candy, and amenities tote (toilet strip, bar soap, shampoo/conditioner, extra TP, PT, makeup wipes, coffee, creamer, tea)
  • Spray disinfectant on mattress pad and pillows.
  • Open all cabinet and dresser drawers, and wipe-out
  • Make bed

Kitchen and Living Space

  • Wipe-out silverware drawers and cupboards
  • Wash dishes (sometimes necessary) and put them away
  • Empty coffee grounds, and run 1 c. vinegar in thru coffee maker, then 1 c. water
  • Wipe off soap bottle exterior and refill
  • Wipe-out refrigerator, microwave, use warm rag to wipe down teapot, counter, stove top, and cupboard fronts
  • Scrub the sink with a drop of Dawn and an old scrubby left by guest
  • Wash sliding glass door inside and out, and wipe the track
  • Wash kitchen and bedroom windows as needed, and wipe the tracks
  • Wipe all high-touch surfaces: doorknobs, knobs, light switches, and remotes with disinfectant on a rag.
  • Dust bedside stands, TV & behindit, fireplace mantle and hearth
  • Remove all couch cushions, vacuum or brush, and FLIP the cushions
  • Wipe off balcony top rail and chairs
  • Empty trash & put in new trash liner; set trash bag and totes outside door
  • Sweep and mop bathroom, bedroom & kitchen & under mats at the front door entrance and balcony
  • Vacuum all carpet, moving towards the front door, and use nozzle around the bed frame and in all corners

Restock

  • Stock TP, make-up wipes, shampoo/conditioner, and soaps in the bathroom
  • Stock paper towels, coffee, creamers, tea, blue scrubby, clean dishcloths, and towels in the kitchen
  • Place parking passes & candy on the counter, and hang a door hanger on the back of the doorknob
  • Double-check TV and fireplace operational
  • Leave TV set to cable after cleaning
  • Fill out the inventory sheets

End-of-day routine

  • Sweep covered steps
  • Empty vacuums and clean the roller brush
  • Restock cleaning caddies
  • Check for packages
  • Compare the “tomorrow report” with the computer calendar and plan for the following day
  • Sweep office and main laundry room
  • Leave wash machines open at night

Weekly

  • Clean utility rooms, laundry rooms, shop, and office at least 1x/week

  • You would be working directly with our reservation specialist and our regional manager who both work remotely.

Work Hours

  • Because of the time restraints of cleaning and preparing condos between 11:00 AM and the next guest checking in at 4:00 PM, this position is shared by two people during this critical busy time
  • Cleaning 20-25 condos/week, for an average of 4+ cleanings/day
  • 5 days cleaning and laundry, 1- 5 hours a day
  • Arrive 5 min early and clock in punctually.
  • Cleaning and laundry consist of 3 to 5 hours a day, 6 days per week
  • Housekeeping begins at 10:30 am, or earlier if necessary

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
