Position Summary

We are seeking an HS Associate Scientist to work in our research laboratory as a technical expert to conduct regular experiments and generate data, as well as assist trainees and lab members with their experiments. This role may also support other Principal Investigators (PIs) in the college as needed, with various assigned experiments and tasks. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, productive, independent, motivated, and a team-player. There may be occasional opportunities for travel to rural communities for research purposes. This is a benefits eligible, full-time term position renewed on an annual basis and contingent on available funding.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to ordering equipment, organizing the lab, providing students, post-docs and other lab personnel with technical assistance and optimizing and recording experimental protocols. Maintain laboratory records including lab notebooks, equipment logs, and internal purchasing request records and will organize data presentations, reports, and publications. Conduct research according to written protocols, under detailed and controlled research parameters in a health science laboratory setting.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate school experience
  • Master's degree in biomedical or related science (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology etc.)

Experience in or with:

  • RT-qPCR
  • Cell culture
  • ELISAs, multiplex cytokine kits (such as MesoScale kits or similar)
  • Immunofluorescent staining protocols, confocal or high-content microscopy and imaging techniques
  • Data entry, analysis and graph/figure development for publications
  • Troubleshooting equipment, laboratory protocols and ability to establish new protocols
  • Mouse handling
