Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for a Human Resources Coordinator in the Human Resources and Development Division (HRD).

This position provides administrative coordination across the full complement of human resources services, including payroll, recruitment, onboarding, leaves of absence, and employee relations. The individual in this role will work in support of judicial officers and staff.

Position is full-time, non-exempt, and part of the Human Resources and Development Division located in the Hennepin County Government Center (300 S. 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN). The Human Resources Coordinator participates as a member of the Human Resources and Development Division, ensuring alignment of priorities. This role will work collaboratively with another Human Resources Coordinator in support of the judicial officers and staff.

Business hours are 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility in work location and hours. Occasional travel within the Twin Cities or Greater Minnesota may be required. This is a hybrid role working both on-site and remotely, depending on business needs.

  • Administer a range of HR functions such as payroll, compensation, benefits, applicant management, performance management systems, leaves of absence, and employee wellness.
  • Participate in recruitment efforts to attract a diverse applicant pool; including job fairs, on-campus, and remote recruiting programs.
  • Contribute to Human Resources and Development efforts with stakeholders, including statewide strategic efforts and goals.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:


  • Four (4) years of post-high school education and experience
  • One (1) year of experience in a human resources, court, legal, or other office setting
  • As this position will be working partially remotely, access to reliable internet connection is required during this time.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated skills being responsive and following up with stakeholder concerns.
  • Demonstrated skills communicating effectively both orally and in writing with all levels within the organization as well as with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective, positive working relationships throughout the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Resilience, with the ability to handle a high-volume workload from multiple sources and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to independently solve issues using variety of resources.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills using different software and database systems, and applying policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal education or training in human resources, such as a bachelor's degree or PHR/SPHR certification.
  • Knowledge of human resources best practices and employment law.
  • Experience working with human resources systems.
  • Experiencing working with executive level leadership.

The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $51,114.246-$65,229.12 annually. The full salary range for this position is $51,114.24-$79,344.00 annually. These positions are non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and are eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
