How this role makes a difference:

The Industry Analyst works as a key member of the research team within our firm to help develop, organize, synthesize and analyze the knowledge that enables Principia to deliver high caliber information and insights for its clients. One of the main roles of the Industry Analyst is to identify and understand trends in his/her industry segments and to calibrate each of the bulleted points listed below.

• Current product demand
• Distribution channel analysis
• Economic and regional trends
• Technology developments and impacts
• Market pricing
• Voice of customer insights
• Forecast demand

Principia's Research business delivers syndicated reports and data products focused on providing insights on various building product categories in residential and commercial construction.

Some examples of what you will have accountability for in this role include:

• Conduct limited primary market research via in depth telephone interviews with industry participants up and down the supply chain including dealers, distributors, associations, and other key contacts
• Conduct secondary research where appropriate
• Provide knowledge in key product categories, including insightful conclusions and outputs of results (e.g., Excel data manipulation, Tableau visualization etc.)
• Provide input and guidance for the market research and quantitative analysis teams
• Prepare written briefs of research data and findings to deliver our data products
• Support Principia business development efforts through content development and other marketing activities

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred
• Preference given to relevant work experience in a Building Materials and/or Construction related business
• Strong work ethic and can-do mentality
• Ability to build and maintain a strong industry network
• Ability to provide analytical advice
• Solid analytical skills
• Effective written and verbal communication
• Ability to manage multiple parallel tasks
• Collaborative team player
• Ability to maintain discretion when needed
• Good computing and data processing skills to consolidate and interpret industry data

In this position, you will work remotely from your home office with occasional travel to industry trade shows and key client presentations (about 10%) at some point in the future.
