The Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner will work in collaboration with Gillette Infectious Disease physicians, nurse practitioner and care teams to manage inpatient as well as outpatient infectious disease conditions. Background in infectious disease strongly preferred!

This position is based in St. Paul, MN, Wednesday – Friday working 0.6 FTE.

This role will have both clinical and administrative responsibilities in collaboration with the Infectious Disease care team which includes:

  • Inpatient APP support
    • APP will respond to inpatient hospital ID consultations with support of the ID physician as appropriate.
    • For complex inpatient ID consultations, the APP will support the ID physician on staff or the contracted locums assigned as needed.
    • Inpatient support may include daily rounding/progress updates with support from the ID physician as appropriate.
  • Outpatient APP support
    • Templated Wednesday afternoon ID clinic. The APP may be asked to see overbooks outside of the template or same day add-ons for urgent visits (i.e., acute orthopedic clinic).
    • In-person and virtual outpatient appointments both new to ID consultations and hospital follow up visits.
    • The APP will see hospital follow up visits independently with support from the ID physician as needed.
    • New to ID outpatient consultations will be managed based on complexity and may be a shared visit between the APP and ID physician.
    • ID APP will work with the outpatient ID RN to manage care coordination for all active outpatient ID patients.
      • 60 minute once weekly care coordination meeting between RN and APP.
  • Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT)
    • The APP will manage patients on home IV antibiotic therapy, this may include:
      • Ordering/managing PICC placement, PICC line supplies and cares, home IV antibiotic orders, and monitoring weekly laboratory results for patients.
  • Antimicrobial Stewardship
    • ID APP will participate in the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) rounds.
    • Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 11:30-12pm to review all inpatients receiving antibiotic therapy.
    • If the ID physician is unable to attend rounds, the APP will run rounds with the designated ASP pharmacist.

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this opportunity is $65,760 to $95,646, with a median salary of $79,709 (annualized amounts are reflective of 0.6 FTE). Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees. Qualifications

Required:

  • Current RN license and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license through the Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Completion of a Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program with a Master of Nursing or a Doctorate of Nursing Practice Degree
  • Current national certification from one of the following:
    • American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
    • American Nurses Credentialing Center
    • Pediatric Nursing Certification Board
  • Current CPR- BLS for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association
  • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal communication, organizational and leadership skills. Able to function independently.
  • Demonstrated competence in working with infants, children, adolescents with disabilities and their families.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 1 year of Infectious Disease clinical practice
  • Pediatric Infectious disease experience
  • Family Nurse Practitioner training
  • Three years relevant Nurse Practitioner experience
