SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (On-site)

Primary Job Objective
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining Franklin business applications.

Fundamental Job Tasks

GENERAL:
  • Interacts with users and Information Systems personnel to determine requirements for smaller technical or application projects involving programming modifications. Recommends solutions.
  • Develops solutions requiring analysis and research.
  • Participates in user training when new procedures or enhanced system functions are implemented.
  • Supports departmental communication objectives through accurate and thorough documentation. Creates project documentation as assignments warrant.
  • Works on one or more projects as a team member.
  • Troubleshoots reported problems needing programming support. Documents reported problems per procedures and acts as the user’s advocate through the resolution process.
SQL DEVELOPER:
  • Creates and modifies moderate-to-advanced T-SQL Stored Procedures and SQL statements.
  • Performs unit/system testing. Analyzes test results and troubleshoots any problems found.
  • Gathers data from Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP, specifically Adage) for reporting and analysis, including Accounting, Shop Floor Manufacturing, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Item Master, Quality and other sub-system data.
  • Creates and maintains reports through our report writing tool, Crystal Reports, as well as other tools and software.
C# DEVELOPER:
  • Develops C# program code in Visual Studio for applications including console applications, WinForms, and web pages. Connects these applications to a MS SqlServer to call Stored Procedures for reading and writing data.
  • Performs unit/system testing. Analyzes test results and troubleshoots any problems found.
Other Job Tasks
Takes part in IS department activities as needed – help desk coverage, PC replacement deployment. Participates in the development, maintenance, and enforcement of IS departmental standards and procedures. Supports production systems with on-call responsibility for weekends and after hours.

Knowledge and Skills

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor Degree in Information Systems or related Business field OR equivalent experience
  • Some programming experience and familiarity with databases
  • Can work independently on small projects or as a member of a project team for larger operations or application projects.
  • Can research technical solutions as needed when developing applications.
  • Is willing and able to gain knowledge of MS SqlServer SQL and T-SQL, C#, and any other needed technologies to grow into being able to perform the fundamental job tasks of this position.
PREFERRED:
  • Some proficiency in MS SqlServer SQL and T-SQL
  • Some proficiency in C# or other object-oriented language
Working Conditions
This position generally performs work within a standard office environment. 0-10% of the time it is required that this position be in the manufacturing areas, subjected to extreme noise and temperature variation. When in such environments, this position is required to wear the appropriate eye, ear, head, and foot protection (PPE). Minimal day travel may be required 0-10% of the time.
