Our Immigration law firm is looking for experienced Legal Assistants to join our team.

Legal Assistants will provide clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; research, fact checking and trial preparation. English and Spanish skills are required.

An ideal candidate for this job will be able to write quickly, efficiently, and emotively, with attention to detail. While legal experience is not necessary, it is beneficial. Each employee receives extensive training to provide you with the knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern immigration, human trafficking, and domestic violence. We are looking for someone who is looking to grow with the law firm and help us succeed in our mission to help immigrants who have suffered great injustices. Responsibilities

  • Meets with legal teams to discuss assigned cases or projects related to immigrant or nonimmigrant Visas.
  • Drafts, review, and/or revising legal documents including cover letters, table of contents, legal arguments, declarations, and other documents.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
  • Investigates facts and prepares documents that relate to immigration cases.
  • Translates facts into understandable and persuasive content.
  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files.
  • Data entry, mail processing, scanning, filling, and other administrative duties.
  • Any other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred); communication skills to keep both the attorney and the team informed of the process.
  • Immigration experience is a plus!
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases at different stages.
  • Excellent skills in research and writing affidavits and briefs and collected additional information.
  • Excellent proofreading, editing, reading comprehension, and time management skills.
  • 1 year of previous legal assistant or relevant experience is preferred
  • Ability to work within operational systems of the firm
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google.
  • Be a team player, but also able to think/work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
