With corporate headquarters in Needham, MA a manufacturing facility in Norwood, MA, and a distribution facility in Norton, MA, we are comfortably located within the Boston metropolitan area.

Due to our rapid growth, our success is directly dependent on attracting and retaining the best possible talent across our teams. To this end, we are posting for a strong Line Leader. This role will be based in our Norwood, MA manufacturing facility.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

As a key member of the Production department, the Line Leader will have the opportunity to provide their expertise to a dynamic and growing organization. This position description is intended to guide the activities of the incumbent in this role and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the incumbent as to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the operational work flow of the area of responsibility.
  • Perform equipment set-up and product changeovers when necessary.
  • Teardown production equipment as needed to perform specific cleaning applications and basic preventive maintenance when necessary.
  • Follow/adhere to schedule.
  • Maintain adequate levels of materials and supplies available on the production floor.
  • Follow recipe work instructions (BOM) accurately and completing documentation for lot tracking and traceability for materials used in production.
  • Ensure operational and product quality parameters are met
  • Coordinate personnel to staff lines to productivity standards.
  • Coordinate lines to most efficiently meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots problems.
  • Communicate to the Supervisor/Manager on mechanical, material, and personnel proficiencies and deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Enforce all safety rules and procedures (i.e. lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment, etc.)
  • Maintain clean, sanitary and safe work practices, tools and area.
  • Provide constructive guidance to employees on correct methods and procedures.
  • Responsible for monitoring plant personnel compliance with GMP, food safety standards, HACCP, CCPs and CQPs.
  • Comply with SQF, regulatory and costumer requirements.
  • Understand and follow all safety, health, environmental, food safety and quality policy and procedures.
  • Assist new employees and trainees in learning correct methods and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a lead machine operator, preferably in a meat processing facility
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills required.
  • Must be fluent in English. Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese is preferred
  • Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack to pull and move product and supplies required
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Requires a basic understanding of GMP's, HACCP and SQF guidelines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is a must

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time; must have good vision.
  • Possesses good vision and manual dexterity.
  • Able to bend, push, carry, twist and lift up to 50 pounds without difficulty on a continuous basis.
