SUMMARY:

The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating equipment and/or machinery and provide assistance to others when needed to meet the company’s safety, quality, production, and cost objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the set-up and safe operations of the equipment and machines in the Oxnard packinghouse; perform all necessary pre-start checks.

• Required to cross-train & become proficient on all equipment
• Perform basic preventative maintenance/cleaning to optimize performance of equipment
• Utilize computer as needed to operate equipment
• Accurately record pool ID’s for business tracking
• Ensures product codes correspond to correct case items
• Operates equipment to ensure standard production quantities (rates) are met and keep scrap material as low as possible
• Communicate with management regarding mechanical problems and repairs; observe operations to detect malfunctions of the machines and make minor adjustments or repairs to the machines when needed
• Cross trains employees on different equipment/machines as needed
• Assist in developing SOPs and continuously improve methodology
• Keeps work area clean and organized
• Inspect filled cartons to ensure that product is packed according to specifications
• Must comply with all Safety and Food Safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and management.

This is an indoor position working around machinery in a packinghouse with moderate noise; the packinghouse may be cold during the winter and hot during the summer.
