Position is located at our Fort Worth, TX corporate office and has the potential to be a hybrid position with up to 50% remote work.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Managing large multi-year application development projects across multiple teams, departments, internal and external groups
  • Proactively provides business analysis and communicates impact assessment and solutions
  • Actively contribute to decision making, tactical, strategic, and long-range planning and budgeting
  • Ensures that programs and projects/systems are functionally appropriate, technically sound, and well-integrated.
  • Facilitates the analysis, design, and development of viable solutions to high complexity customer problems according to customer specifications that impact an integrated environment where the span of functionality crosses multiple areas
  • Ability to identify problems in advance that impact a safety critical environment and devise and implement appropriate techniques and solutions to mitigate them prior to becoming an issue
  • Drive development of tools, reports, automation, and practices to improve Train Dispatching
  • Responsible for providing direction to contractors and employees
  • Develop, manage, and execute project plan and resource allocation
  • Provide timely and accurate project status information
  • Interacts with stakeholders: requirement gathering and status updates
  • Translates technical information to a non-technical audience
  • A high-performing team player that shares knowledge and consistently delivers in pressure situations

Basic Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or 5 years of equivalent business experience/equivalent formal training
  • 5+ years of proven hands-on experience developing distributed systems and highly available Windows, Linux and OpenShift services
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills


Experience Required:

  • Experience developing high-quality applications with a focus on safety execution
  • Experience with project management, application development, testing, and implementation
  • Safety critical applications lifecycle development and process development for systems engineering, requirements tracing, configuration management and industry best practices and standards
  • Testing and implementing projects/systems and enhancements using techniques that preserve project/system integrity at the unit, integration, and system level across platforms
  • Experience leading a team of developers
  • 5+ years of railroad experience is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Positive Train Control or Train Dispatching Operations is preferred by not required
