Role

  • Performs a variety of duties in the areas of, but is not limited to, transaction processing (wire transfers, ACH, in clearings and returns, member mail, interdepartmental posting needs, etc.), IRA administration, deceased accounts, credit life and disability insurance administration, Escheat, regulatory and compliance adherence, fraud/forgery research/filing and general ledger balancing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes and posts member financial transactions including, but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, address changes, account closures, and dividend corrections received via member mail, fax or email. Posts transactions for CLG, FMRD, Real Estate and Finance. Receives and processes statement requests, and wire transfers.
  • Responsible for the overall administration of the organization's IRA program. Responds to member and employee inquiries regarding IRA products and processes. Sends mandatory notices on IRA products and processes. Reviews all IRS related tax forms for accuracy and compliance. Approves transmission of IRS related tax files to the IRS after verification. Processes IRA transfers to or from other financial providers. Receives and processes all incoming IRA rollovers and assists branch employees in completing outgoing IRA rollovers. Researches all disputed IRA transactions. Posts adjustments to member's accounts or explains transaction postings to member. Prepares any adjusting tax forms submission, as needed.
  • Responsible for the overall administration of the organization's deceased account process. Acts as first point of contact for supervisors and assists them though the process of distributing funds. Corresponds with survivors in writing and maintains all files associated with deceased accounts. Performs required maintenance on member accounts and ensures compliance with the program.
  • Responsible for the administration of the Allied program. Initiates disability and life insurance claims and serves as point of contact for member and branch inquiries. Performs required transactions on member accounts and ensures compliance with the program. Frequently prepares debt protection reporting.
  • Prepares periodic reports on trust account, deceased account, Escheat, IRA, LifeLock, exceptions, business cash exceptions, and paper statement fee exceptions. Works with Finance to balance related GLs as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Experience

  • Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.

Other Skills

  • Able to operate a 10 key calculator, and computer keyboard.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

  • Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
