New Pond Village is looking for a experienced Memory Care Activity Coordinator. The Memory Care Activity Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing programs and services for our residents with cognitive impairment by providing a therapeutic environment that maintains each resident’s highest level of physical, social and psychological well-being. Our memory program is intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social and emotional and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

  • Pursues educational development Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Benchmark Standards and Practices
  • Follows daily work schedules as directed and identifies and acts on non-scheduled tasks
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of state regulations
  • Processes knowledge of policies in the Harbor Family Book
  • Shows familiarity and experience using a wide variety of equipment related to the recreational activities of elders and the disabled, including, but not limited to, craft supplies, VCR, stereo, stove and food preparation
  • Understands and is able to develop Resident Care Service Plan
  • Understands advanced directives and end-of-life care
  • Possesses knowledge about the assisted living philosophy
  • Understand resident care function in a memory care unit
  • Understands quality of care objectives
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Benchmark Standards and Practices
  • Possesses current CPR, First Aid, and Heimlich certification, if required

Resident Care-Activities

  • Assists in development of an innovative seven day a week activity program that is engaging
  • Responsible for leading and implementing one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule
  • Supports, encourages and directs independent activity pursuits, both individually and in small groups
  • Supports the resident’s abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity
  • Assists in the production of a quality monthly newsletter and calendar and Daily Activity Calendars on a timely basis

Compliance / Safety

  • Adheres to all OSHA regulations and safety procedures when lifting, bending, and using equipment
  • Demonstrates infection prevention and control
  • Immediately reports any personal accident or work-related injury

Computer Skills

  • Demonstrates proficiency in computer applications including
  • Microsoft Office
  • Talent Review Tool
  • Move-N
  • Calendar/ Newsletter software

Public Relations / Marketing

  • Represents the company with pride and knowledge to educate outside groups and organizations
  • Actively participates in local community activities and in professional associations, representing the community in a manner that brings positive recognition, enhances marketing activity, and generates wider awareness of Benchmark

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues. Must be qualified by experience and development
  • Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities
  • Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias
