Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for assisting customers within the department facilities with way-finding, parking concerns, and payment. Provide students, faculty, staff, program participants and/or the public with information and interpretation of policies and activities related to the program specialty. Perform minor maintenance and cleaning duties of all department facilities and equipment. Assist in the coordination of activities as it relates to special events. This position is also responsible for field operations duties on the WSU Pullman Campus which include; enforcement of parking regulations, motorist assistance and customer service, monitoring lot usage.

Customer Service: 30%
  • Assist customers within the facilities with way-finding, parking concerns, payments, and other parking related items.
  • Assist customers by answering inquiries and providing general information. Give information about locations on campus and parking rules and regulations.
  • Provide public assists in the form of jump starting and unlocking vehicles as needed, transporting patrons to get gas, etc.
  • Resolve customer complaints in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Identification of Facility Problems: 20%
  • Conduct routine facility inspections for all parking facilities on the WSU Pullman Campus.
  • Observe, identify, and report operation, maintenance, and safety issues in the field.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning work on parking equipment, including parking permit vending machines, parking meters, and other parking equipment.
  • Perform litter pick-up and other facility lot cleaning duties.
  • Install parking and traffic equipment and signage.

Special Events: 20 %
  • Assist in parking, traffic control, and the coordination of activities as it relates to special event parking (i.e. athletic events, concerts, commencement, etc.)
  • Move and set up traffic barricades and signs.
  • Assist customers with establishing accounts, accepting all modes of payment for services and applying cash handling policies. Receives cash and/or credit card payments for various transactions during special events on campus.

As directed by Public Safety personnel, assist with perimeter/crowd control during emergencies.

General Support: 15%
  • Assist in keeping accurate location inventory data of the parking system.
  • Conduct parking utilization surveys in designated areas.
  • Collection of money in garages, parking permit machines and meters.
  • Assist in maintaining department equipment and supply inventory.
  • Under general supervision, conduct quarterly PCI Inspections of all parking meters and parking permit vending machines.
  • Assist Field Operations team in creating specific event related signage and communication.
  • Generate reports, input data, query database information using computer keyboard.
  • Maintain and care for all departmental issued equipment.

Parking Compliance: 10%
  • Utilize parking management software to enforce parking regulations and issue citations for the WSU Pullman Campus per WSU parking rules and regulations.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding parking rules and regulations.
  • Use two-way radios and proper radio protocol to communicate with transportation dispatch, Whitcom, and other parking officers.
  • Identify vehicles with unpaid parking tickets eligible for wheel lock. Attach wheel locks when appropriate. Assist police officers with impounding vehicles.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School graduation OR equivalent AND possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience using personal computers.
  • High School graduation OR equivalent.

Monthly Salary: Range $3,096.00 - $4,013.00 | (Step A through L) Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
