Position Overview

MERS Goodwill is looking for a kind and passionate childcare teacher for our new adult high school, The Excel Center, located in Florissant, MO. Our childcare center is a drop in facility, where our students have the opportunity to utilize childcare while they take classes.

Essential Duties:
1. Help develop and implement lesson plans
2. Follow State Regulations
3. Follow policies and procedures as outlined in Employee and Job manuals
4. Create positive and inviting environment for children
5. Assist with the development and measurement of individualized goals for children
6. Greet parents and ask appropriate questions/give appropriate information
7. Include themselves in children’s play time both indoors and outdoors
8. Follow schedule for classroom so that activities are timely and organized
9. Complete the Opening Procedures, Naptime Procedures and Closing Procedures on a daily basis
so that classrooms and common areas remain clean and organized
10. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be 18-years of age with a High School Degree or GED, and 6-months experience working as a supervised Assistant Teacher in a Daycare or School setting.
• Position requires full mobility with the ability to lift between 20 and 40 pounds on a regular basis (Toddlers weight).
• Requires knowledge of the basic child needs and sensitivity to the capabilities, interest and problems associated with children and their daycare needs.

Essential Training Requirements:

• New staff orientation, review of Personnel Practices Code Book,
• Training and Safety Manual, First Aid, CPR certification, Blood-Borne Pathogens Training in addition to all training required by the Missouri Department of Health licensing rules for child day care centers and other training as required including 12-hours of approved child-related training per year.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.25 per hour

• Florissant, MO 63033: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
