Battery Storage Developer

Our clint is a platform jointly owned that develops, owns, and operates standalone utility scale energy storage projects in North America. Their projects are integral to the decarbonization of the electricity industry. The Company and its affiliates have been awarded over 10 GW of renewable and flexible power capacity in North America, Europe and MENA.

They are seeking a battery storage developer to join our growing battery storage IPP team in Chicago. The Developer will manage all aspects of development for select projects in their development portfolio, from site acquisition through to Notice to Proceed for construction. The Developer will also lead responses to energy storage RFPs and bi-laterally originate and manage potential offtake opportunities.

This is a high visibility role in a fast-growing company. Interested individuals possessing experience with early stage energy project development, familiarity with regulatory frameworks, and a strong technical understanding of batteries are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of development for select projects in the development portfolio, from site acquisition through to Notice to Proceed for construction
• Use software tools and coordinate with the quantitative team to research and locate greenfield/acquisition opportunities
• Negotiate site control agreements with landowners
• Coordinate with team members and manage external contractors to permit projects and perform other development tasks
• Lead responses to energy storage RFPs and bi-laterally originate and manage potential offtake opportunities
• Frequent travel across the United States, working with local stakeholders including landowners, local governments, economic development entities, permitting authorities, utilities, and others
• Interact with disparate stakeholder groups and negotiate agreements that allow projects to proceed
• Communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of power and utilities development experience with exposure to utility scale energy storage preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or greater
• Ability to interpret, distil and communicate complex information effectively
• Exceptional verbal and written negotiation abilities
• Self-motivated, innovative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, contemporary/unstructured environment
• Enjoys an “All Hands on Deck” team culture and brings determination to figure things out
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Smartsheet, Google Earth and Notion is a plus
• Self-awareness of one’s “quirks” and appreciation for those of teammates
• Open to listening to broad genres of music in the office (including but not limited to jazz, bluegrass, noise, boogie, house, and math rock)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
