Primary Function:

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Registered Dietitian to maintain/improve the nutritional status of patients by assessing nutritional risk, evaluating nutritional requirements, developing care plans, providing nutrition education, and evaluating patient nutritional outcomes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes patients requiring nutrition intervention and education based upon nutrition screening protocols.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to interpret clinical data obtained from medical records. Evaluates patients' nutritional status correctly and assigns appropriate risk levels. Develops nutritional goals and provides appropriate care to age specific populations and patients at nutritional risk.

  • If ASPEN certified, develops nutritional care plans for patients on parenteral nutrition. Otherwise, confers with a senior registered dietitian to develop appropriate nutritional assessments and recommendations for patients on parenteral nutrition.

  • Documents appropriately in the medical record and as identified, classifies the type of malnutrition.

  • Provides diet education to patients and assists in the development and evaluation of patient education materials.

  • As part of a team approach, confers with the physician and medical staff concerning diet prescriptions, clinical recommendations, and the implementation of care plans.

  • Follows "Registered Dietitian Range of Responsibilities" policy and procedures.

  • Participates in the formulation, implementation, and compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards related to the nutritional management of patients.

  • Completes productivity reports and special assignments in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Consults and makes recommendations to outpatient nutrition programs and agencies responsible for home or institutional care of patients following discharge.

  • Actively represents Nutrition Services on committees as assigned.

  • Provides orientation, training, and ongoing supervision of nutrition and patient service staff.

  • Works with senior registered dietitians to supervise and support student interns>

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition required. Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition preferred.

  • Experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute care facility preferred.

  • Knowledge of supplemental nutritional products.
