Job Description

Crystal Pharmatech is seeking applicants for Associate scientist/Research Scientist position in the Biologics division based at its Cranbury, NJ site. The individual will report directly to a Senior Research Scientist and handle several areas of Biologics Analytical R&D. This includes physicochemical, biophysical, and biological characterization of drug substance and drug product. This position will contribute to the Biologics Analytical Services team through the performance and development of LC/MS-based methods for biologics. The individual will work with internal and external collaborators to ensure the highest quality of data.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

· BS with 3+ years or MS with 1+ years of work experience in analytical method development and structural characterization of biologics.

· At least 1 year of demonstrated hands-on experience with LC/MS.

· Organization and attention to detail with an ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Fundamental general chemistry and physical organic chemistry knowledge.

· Familiarity with various chromatography methods such as RP, HILIC, IEX, SEC, etc. is desirable.

  • Familiarity with assay qualification/validation ICH, FDA, EMA guidelines is a plus.
  • Experience in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, etc.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills required.
  • Display excellent lab skills with the ability to quickly learn instrumentation.
  • Display a high level of innovation and practical ingenuity.
  • Always diligent in scientific rigor displaying a high level of integrity.
  • Can work as part of a team and/or individually with minimal supervision.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Perform LC-MS characterization analysis including intact and subunit analysis, peptide mapping, glycan analysis, disulfide bond mapping, free thiol identification, sequence variants’ characterization, and post-translational modifications’ identification and Quantitation of monoclonal antibodies, proteins, peptides, and Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs).

· Assists project management with method troubleshooting through data interpretation, experimental design, and data collection.

· Occasionally perform analysis of small biomolecules and vaccines.

· Perform laboratory maintenance including routine maintenance of LC-MS systems, analytical instruments, ordering and stocking of laboratory supplies, sample management, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

· Works with the Study Director and project teams on project-related communication

· Be accountable for all experimental and project-related needs assigned.

· Instrument use and theoretical training will be provided during the 3-month probation period.
