Our retail manager ensures the highest standards of retail service are met for our guests, the company, and the National Park Service. The retail manager directly oversees all activities at the retail store, and provides exceptional guidance, training, and leadership for the staff. This fast-paced environment demands professional guest service in a teamwork-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest service standards.
  • The Retail/Gift Store Manager oversees the Trail Ridge Store operation by providing guest service in a teamwork oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Address guest problems, concerns, and compliments, responding authentically and positively with the objective of solving the problem to the satisfaction of the guest and management of Xanterra Travel Collection / Rocky Mountain National Park.
  • Set high standards of retail service for the guests, the company, and the National Park Service.

  • Oversee all activities at the retail store, and provide exceptional guidance and leadership.
  • Ensure all employees receive appropriate training for their position and training is documented appropriately.
  • Maintain uniform and appearance standards.
  • Work closely with buyers, vendors, corporate accounting, and IT to resolve any issues which may arise.
  • Proficient in warehouse receiving procedures, receive deliveries from suppliers, and process the necessary documentation in the first month and a half.
  • Stock merchandise as necessary, making sure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean within the guidelines of the Retail Visual Merchandise Manual.
  • Address any on-hand negatives in a timely manner.
  • Address damaged goods on a daily basis.
  • Work alongside staff, leading by example, delegate tasks while leading with a positive and professional manner. No task is too small.
  • Proficient in retail software/POS applications.
  • Ensure all schedules for each week are checked and posted at least two weeks prior to the start of the new schedule. Posted schedules must be a finalized copy.
  • Demonstrate and train good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales.
  • Responsible for gift shop physical inventory, product transfers, and RTV’s.
  • Work to ensure the integrity of the retail inventory through various analysis and reports.
  • Responsible for safe and cash banks. Be able to make change for cashiers accurately.
  • Ensure all staff members are trained and performing well on Mi9 systems. Provide follow-up training when applicable.
  • Facilitate cross-training of staff to ensure shift coverages.
  • Ensure employees receive informal feedback from their supervisor on a regular basis and written evaluations, periodically.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with general manager and other location department managers.
  • Alert general manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns, and employee issues.
  • Communicate with corporate buyers regarding product shortages and inventory needs.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure the sales floor is kept clean, which includes sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, dusting, mopping, and trash removal, on a daily basis.
  • Communicate with asst. manager and leads to guarantee appropriate management coverage for every shift. Cover floor management shifts as needed.
  • Open and close the guest service facilities on time every day.
  • Perform duties outside the job classification assigned by management along with any other responsibilities deemed necessary.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Mi9 POS system helpful. Able to trouble shoot as needed.
  • Able to perform all duties of a sales associate, cash handling, daily reporting procedures, and inventory control.
  • Visual Merchandising experience helpful.
  • Train, coach, and guide staff throughout the season.
  • Thorough understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment.
  • Knowledgeable of all procedures and policies used within the retail store operation and Company.
  • Should have a basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products sold within the assigned location.
  • Ability to analyze and react to budgetary situations.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve and select a course of action.
  • Ability to teach and motivate employees and supervisors to accomplish goals.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and follow-up with specific time-lines.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive, efficient manner, and hold individuals accountable for their responsibilities.
  • Inventory control, management and physical inventory skills a plus.
  • Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members.
  • Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills.
  • Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention.
  • Must possess a non-CDL, valid driver’s license, and a clean record.

Physical Requirements

  • Candidate must be able to work at an altitude of 12,000 feet.
  • Ability to stand/walk for a minimum eight to ten hour shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to walk up and down stairs several times a day.
  • Carry boxes/product up and down stairs several times a day.
  • Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as requested.
