We currently have an opening for a Shipping & Receiving Manager. This position will be located at our Carpinteria facility. Rate of pay is $73K.

The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for inventory management of finished goods. Ensuring all shipments are handled properly, tracked throughout transit, and delivered on time while meeting all the customer specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The duties listed below are representative of the essential functions, qualifications, physical demands, and the work environment encountered in this position.   • Works in conjunction with Production Teams and Sales Team to ensure quality products are readily available based on customer orders.
  • Oversee or review of product upon arrival from production.
  • Good organizational practice to assure FIFO of products.
  • Call out any daily / weekly inventory reconciliations or processing that may be needed.
  • Review orders for following days to ensure product availability.
  • Daily communication with production supervisors on timing of product availability.
  • Build trucks to maximize cost savings and team welfare.
  • Take calls from drivers when issues arise at various times throughout the day/night
  • Work with customers receiving our products to assure prompt and accurate delivery.
  • Work with leadership to identify appropriate use of outside carriers.
  • Prepares and prints pallet tags.
  • Manage vehicle inspection reports.
  • Monitor GPS for each delivery.
  • Implement appointment schedule for Local Bounti.
  • Schedule delivery appointments to customers.
  • Ensure ERP data entry is kept up to date; support team if needed.
  • PECO pallet reconciliation.
  • Food Safety – Transfer Lists and Shipping Monitoring Log.
  • Maintain and update delivery location information.
  • Manage and approve drivers gas receipts.
  • Locally maintain driver, DOT records for compliance purposes.
  • Reviews, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines employees as necessary, in conjunction with the general manager and human resources, to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to product processing
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements
  • Ensure compliance to all OSHA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance
  • Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization
  • Work cooperatively with departmental managers
  • Oversee and manage staffing of maintenance department
  • Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety
  • Any other duties as assigned

  • Comprehensive knowledge of perishable products as it applies to leafy greens.
  • Knowledge the structure of the company and how it relates to the Shipping and Inventory Department.
  • Ensure that staffing levels were balanced and maintained to meet projected workloads, service, and quality standards.
  • Predicted/anticipated hours required and oversee scheduling to maintain maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Management of finished product ready for shipment and verify that proper shipping procedures are being applied.
  • Safeguarded and verified cooler procedures so that finished products were properly stored and maintained to prevent fruit ripening, damage, and theft.
  • Ensure that product arriving (both packed and unpacked) was unloaded, inspected and cooled in a timely manner and consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Cooperate with other department managers in fostering and maintaining a strong team environment with open communication and worked towards accomplishing team goals.
  • Ensured that outbound shipments were loaded and shipped in accordance with company transportation and truck conditions standards and that all proper documentation was prepared and signed properly.
  • Identify and propose solutions to inter-departmental communications, efficiency, safety, training, etc.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively apply management practices and team development techniques which includes the ability to motivate staff, deal with difficult employee issues and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in verbal and written form, with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively communicate and administer Local Bounti’s policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have recent experience in a Manufacturing facility, preferable food manufacturing with at least 5 years preferred experience.
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish preferred.

Physical Demands:
