About Houston (Spring)


ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team


  • The Social Media Market Advisor serves as the lead social media strategist and coordinatior to our ExxonMobil affiliate market community with being an integral member of the broader communications team. As an experienced professional who is passionate about the industry and is dedicated to the advancement of ExxonMobil’s brand and consistent social experience, this leader works in close partnership with the Corporate Public & Government Affairs team to proactively manage the reputation of the company through comprehensive and strategic social media educatation, social governance and strategy, and distributed content programs
  • This position will handle the strategic and day-to-day activities associated with supporting our ExxonMobil affiliates, including ad-hoc strategic counsel, social media governance counsel, social media education, distribution of social media content/assets by working cross-departmentally to deliver consistent and focused external messaging. They will be responsible for advancing global social media experience within our owned accounts, coordinating social media strategy in support of major announcements, activities and crises, as well as proactive, integrated communications plans to protect and promote the corporation’s reputation using the vast global ExxonMobil social media owned accounts
  • The Social Media Community Advisor will also exemplify collaboration, assitsting colleagues across the broader communications team with internal, media, marketing, and financial communications. S/he will be an innovative and creative thinker, who is always looking for new ways to reacht the right audience with the best messages that support the corporate objectives
  • The position is based in Spring, TX.

What you will do


  • Serve as the brand and reputation liaison to all global digital and social practitioners to ensure consistent brand message and experience wherever there is an ExxonMobil social channel
  • Counsels all digital and social practitioners on the execution of the ExxonMobil brand expression on social channels
  • Actively coordinates between global practitioners and corporate social channels to amplify social content
  • Manage the execution of the Global Digital and Social Practitioners education and communication program with support from agency partners
  • Effectively provides counsel and support to all global market social media practitioners on a day-to-day level while keeping an eye on long- term vision for goals and growth
  • Answer global market social media practitioners inquiries competently and efficiently, coordinating with internal and external teams when necessary
  • Manage the social media governance process that includes approval of new channels, provide counsel to updates to channels and oversee yearly channel audit

About you


The Social Media Advisor will be a creative thinker with an eye for detail and a passion for teamwork and collaboration. S/he will be professional with excellent organizational skills and a track record for delivering results to support multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment.


Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-6 years in the social media space or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Strong familiarity with key social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and Snapchat
  • Experience working with advertising platforms across the major social networks
  • Mix of social media and digital expert, analyst and creative thinker
  • Know what’s on-trend in the digital space, and love creating experiences that bridge the gap between our customers and their communities
  • Have started to develop an area of expertise but are still proficient across all types of social (paid, content, community management, analytics, etc.)
  • A working knowledge of current digital technologies, publishing tools and trends in the advertising, communications and marketing industries
  • Enthusiasm for and willingness to grow in all facets of social media management including marketing, social care, content strategy, content creation, measurement, and account management
  • Works well within highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams with many moving
  • parts; highly developed sense of teamwork is a necessity
  • Demonstrate initiative and independence; is consistent and dependable
  • Occasional evening and weekend coverage may be required
  • Strong verbal / written communications skills
  • Must be self-motivated and results oriented

  • A positive, proactive team-oriented attitude, culturally sensitive and ideally familiar with the working environment of a large, international organization
  • Understanding and respect for international protocols, and cultural differences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Exemplary attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications/ Experience


  • Demonstrated 3-6 years of professional experience in social media, marketing, public relations, employee communications, content creation or public affairs
