JOB SUMMARY:

A Store Planner produces store layout design related to remodels and new stores projects. Specifies equipment, industry best practices and offers suggestions based on retailers specific needs. The Store Planner communicates directly with store owners, manufacturing representatives and General Contractors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Store Planner designs grocery store layouts and equipment for new stores, as well as remodels and schematic resets of existing location. Covers assigned geographic area and makes regular calls to members as requested.
  • Makes equipment recommendations. Oversees all equipment procurement and pricing. Gathers and distributes all correct and pertinent specification sheets for operation and install. Evaluates new equipment and technology.
  • Meets with and provides delivery and install coordination for retailer, staff and contractors. Furnishes plumbing, mechanical and electrical specification sheets referenced in drawings. Visits job site and verifies plumbing and electrical locations with contractor and owner.
  • Provides owner and contractor with equipment receiving schedule. Maintains shipping dates according to critical time path method.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in business or computer design/drafting preferred.
  • Two years of post-secondary education in business or computer design/drafting and three years of equipment purchasing, and pricing experience preferred.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, FoxPro and Microsoft applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • The Store Planner must be able to adapt to various databases, quoting programs, spreadsheets, and drafting software.
  • Must understand refrigeration, space management, and coordination amongst merchandising staff.
  • Must be able to present critical and detailed information and provide excellent customer service.
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple projects at different stages of completion.
  • Excels in both verbal and written communication.
  • Requires sound decision-making skills within framework of stated policies and procedures.
  • Capable of collecting, measuring and analyzing a host of data.
  • Excellent problem solving, attention to detail, coordination and organizational skills.
  • Able to adapt to changing situations.
  • Capable of handling complex mathematical formulas and functions as related to each project.
  • Able to travel up to 30% of the time based-on specific project locations.


PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS

  • Travel for a Store Planner is typically 2-3 days a week but can be up to 5 days depending on need.
  • Will visit job sites during various phases of construction and in various weather conditions.
  • Will follow standard working hours, with the ability to adjust for specific project needs.
