Job Title: Production/Materials Planner

Job Summary
Manage the daily production schedules for your assigned manufacturing facility. Ensure production work orders are properly managed which will allow products to be manufactured for either in-stock replenishment or customer orders to be shipped. Responsible for maintaining a high level of scheduling efficiency and optimization, considering material availability, customer order delivery dates, warehouse availability and product parameters. Responsibilities also include coordinating orders and forecasted demands for various products to reach minimum production quantity requirements. Ensure material availability by working with appropriate Material Planner(s) and Buyers to track incoming material shipments and coordinating product production dates in support of customer service fulfillment expectations. This role has daily communication with operations management, material planners, logistics, customer service, and other internal teams regarding production or delivery issues.

Essential Functions

  • Create production schedules for the operations group in assigned manufacturing plants
  • Work with operations management to determine appropriate production days and times to produce required finished goods
  • Take in account the many factors such as equipment availability, seasonal demands and sufficient labor and material availability
  • Performs a variety of routine purchasing duties, such as: inputting purchase orders, checks deliveries of materials ordered etc.
  • Manage production planning in such a way that it will meet required finished good inventory goals and minimize scheduled downtime due to change overs as well as overtime to meet demands
  • Constantly monitor and balance sales orders with forecasted demands to fulfill weekly demands from our customers, un-forecasted demands and adhere to a finished goods safety stock plan
  • Analyze variations on requirements and plan to cover such events as customer promotions, seasonal demands, and traditional logistical problem areas such as holidays and bad weather
  • Analyze sales and demand trends to plan for long-term run outs for soon to be discontinued products or packaging changes
  • Continually strive to improve efficiency, by participating in meetings with various supply chain groups and the business leaders to identify efficiency opportunities
  • From time to time, as needed, provide support for special projects within the facilities such as completing special assignments, filling out supplier review surveys, and providing historical and future projections of material movements and usages
Preferred Qualifications
  • College Graduate:
  • Undergraduate Degree required
  • Supply Management Degree with high aptitude for learning plus 2-5 years supply management experience (preferably in a manufacturing facility)
  • CPIM certification desired
  • Must possess solid analytical skills
  • Proactive individual who can multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with ERP such as JDE or SAP Experience with production/supply chain planning
  • Intuitive thinker with strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation
  • Organizational skills
