Shift: M-F 7am-3pm
Pay Range $16.50 with increases for experience, education, and Teaching Assistant certification
The Teacher’s Aide assists the classroom teacher in implementing and maintaining educational systems and instructional programs within the classroom and school setting. In addition, The Teacher’s aide may work in a residential setting on campus. The Teacher’s Aide is expected to assist students with skills associated with morning routines and safely transitioning students to the school building.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transitions students to and from the classroom or school building as needed.
- Models appropriate communication and social skills and provides reinforcement for reciprocal responses.
- Implements student support and behavior plans as written and actively seeks clarification from appropriate personnel when needed.
- Ensures student specific diet dining protocols and nutritional guidelines are followed.
- Communicates to classroom teacher and documents new and unusual behaviors.
- As assigned, safely and accurately administers student medication per certification and administration guidelines.
- Reports and documents all reportable/behavioral incidents correctly and in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year’s experience working with the developmentally disabled population.
- Must maintain qualifications in the crisis intervention procedure of the agency.
- Must be capable at all times of initiating or assisting in all components of the crisis intervention of the agency.
- Must be capable at all times of assisting occupants in the orderly evacuation of the facility, by both primary and secondary paths in the event of fire or other emergency.
