Position Summary:

The Human Services instructor will provide instruction and prepare students for a career in support service settings such as rehabilitation programs, human services departments, senior citizen centers, correctional populations, and non-profit agencies specializing in services provided to people. Graduates will be trained to provide generic therapeutic, supportive and preventive services for people with emotional, developmental, social or physical problems in a variety of social or human service settings. These individuals will also be equipped to match clients with the appropriate services, advocate for clients, and provide administrative support to agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain and update course syllabi

Assist in the development of new curricula to support industry needs

Develop and implement daily lesson plans to teach skills required to Human Services related competencies

Prepare outlines of instructional programs and training schedules and establish course goals

Implement evaluation devices of student learning to measure progress and competency

Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return work promptly to promote maximum learning

Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness

Provide oversight and organization of clinical experiences

Maintain classroom records

Advisement of students

Service to campus committees.

Communicate with stakeholders and representatives in the field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong and diverse knowledge base of clinical/practical experience

Delivery of human services to variety of clients

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Classroom instruction and management

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science or related human services field, minimum 3 years in the field experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Behavioral Science or related human services field, minimum 3 years in the field practice and experience in teaching.

Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus is the regional provider for technical and career education, offering more than 25 programs with a variety of industry specific options, as well as certificates of proficiency, technical certificates, associate degrees and general education coursework. The Ozark Campus is located on I-40 between Fort Smith and Russellville, Arkansas, in the city of Ozark. The campus, which is more than 26 acres and includes a half-mile exercise path and disc golf course, is located along Arkansas Highway 23 North in Ozark, Arkansas. The city of Ozark, with a population of approximately 3,500, is located on the banks of the Arkansas River and surrounded to the north by the Ozark National Forest and to the south by the Ouachita National Forest. Located to the west of Ozark is the city of Fort Smith, a commercial and industrial center for western Arkansas. Russellville, home to Arkansas Tech University's main campus and an area of vigorous industrial development, is located to the southeast of Ozark on Interstate 40.
