Job description
Reporting jointly to the Associate Warden of Programs and the Administrative Officer III, this position provides administrative support to the Unit Managers and the Associate Warden of Programs in addition to providing backup to other administrative areas. This position’s responsibilities include:
Provide clerical support to the Associate Warden of Programs, assisting with drafting correspondence, the completion of monthly reports, and assisting with special projects.- Provide clerical support to four Unit Managers on a rotating, as needed, basis.
- Run criminal background checks as needed for volunteers, new staff, and PREA compliance.
- Assist with compiling records for weekly Division Hearing Officer review.
- Assist with monthly canteen inventories.
- Assist mailroom staff on high volume days with processing offender mail as well as serving as backup in the absence of mailroom staff.
- Serve as backup operator for the facility switchboard and assist with switchboard coverage daily from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
- Assisting as needed with the filing of personnel and financial records.
- Other special tasks as assigned by management.
This is a full-time position ( 40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM.
Note to Current State Employees :
The salary grade for this position is
NC02
(Salary Range: $31,200 - $46,734
). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
About Nash Correctional Institution:
Nash Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Nashville, Nash County NC. It houses approximately 654 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to two Correction Enterprises operations located on site: the Optical Plant and the Print Plant. The Optical Plant manufactures eyeglasses for customers such as Medicaid and the Division of Services for the Blind. The Print Plant is a full-service print shop dedicated to printing services for state government agencies, public school systems, state community colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations.
