This position will float to Crane or Main OR on days that there are no cases scheduled in North Adams. Must have five years of CST experience.
  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
      A Certified Surgical Technologist is a paraprofessional qualified by a didactic and clinical training to provide Services in the Operating Room under the supervision and responsibility of the Operating Room Director and RN circulatory nurses or her/his designee. As part of the Operating Room Team, he/she is responsible for the technical aspects of the patient’s surgical intervention. The Certified Surgical Technologist and Circulating Nurse work as a team as the surgical patients advocate. The CST Specialty Coordinator will assist the physician with planning for specialty procedure to optimize patient outcomes and provide comprehensive patient management under the direction of the RN Circulating nurse. Ensure the availability of specialty equipment, implants and supplies for that specialty. Responsible for ensuring training and education related to specialty techniques for all surgical service staff under the direction of the nurse educator for Surgical Services
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Operating room experience required; CST program completion may be considered. 5 years surgical tech experience preferred.
      • Familiarity with basic surgical procedures, instruments, equipment, physiology, microbiology, anatomy, and psychological process required.
      • Recent experience in Operating Room technology.
      • Has verbal ability to use and understand medical terminology to fulfill quickly and accurately Surgeons and Nurses instructions.
    • Education and Training:

      • Graduate of a CAAHEP Accredited Surgical Technologist Program.

    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist
    • Other Requirements:
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and compliance with Customer Service Standards required.
      • Collaborates effectively within a team.
      • Demonstrated clinical competence in the Operating Room
      • Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of the Surgical Team required.
      • Ability to meet the needs of the patients for safety, comfort, and reassurance required.
      • Must be willing to cross-train to Crane Center, main OR, & Sterile Processing.
      • Must be willing to function in other capacities needed for the department.
      • Capable of rapid and accurate movements of body and hands in response to visual and audio stimuli.
      • Able to perform a variety of duties in the Operating Room under supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Schedule: Part time 1 (30-35.9), Shift 1, 7:00am-3:30pm
