The Wharton School is currently seeking an experienced Director of Data Administration and Institutional Research. The Director will play a crucial role in driving the School's success by providing leadership over the collection, analysis, and dissemination of high-level institutional data. The incumbent will enable high-level analytics capabilities that inform key decisions around planning, policy development, assessment, and evaluation of School activities. Through their expertise and guidance, they will ensure that strategic efforts are aligned with stated goals, and that the School continuously improves performance and delivers optimal outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a creative and visionary leader, responsible for the formalized approach to process design and maintenance, policy development, and procedures that ensure data quality and integrity throughout the School and University. The Director will work primarily with the Dean and Deputy Dean’s Office, but will also work collaboratively with a broad constituency of clients and collaborators in a matrix management structure. This includes supporting the Dean, Deputy Dean, Departments, Divisions, and other school clients, as well as University stakeholders such as the Provost and President, and external organizations.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff in the Deputy Dean’s Office, the Director will manage a Senior Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead a dynamic team in providing critical support to the School's leadership and stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Provide strategic leadership for School-wide analytics functions to enable the Dean’s mission and goals.
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of institutional data for both internal and external constituents, ensuring that data is collected in a timely and efficient manner and that reports are accurate and meaningful.
  • Steward the School’s data management and governance.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Manage ad hoc and standard report requests from constituents in a timely and client-centered manner by understanding the data needs and provide customized reports and analysis that are clear, actionable, and meaningful.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques, such as data modeling and visualization, to transform complex data sets into intuitive and easy-to-understand formats.
  • Provide contextual information and insights that help stakeholders understand the significance and implications of the data and provide recommendations for actions or next steps based on the findings.
  • Collaborate with internal constituents such as the division leads, the CIO, CISO, CFO, and other leaders to design and administer data management processes and procedures.
Qualifications
A master’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Additional required qualifications:
  • Experience/degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data analytics, institutional research, or a related discipline
  • experience in a data administration and institutional research role, preferably within higher education settings
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection, analysis, and dissemination, and a proven ability to conduct high-level analysis for planning, policy development, assessment, and evaluation of activities
  • Experience managing data quality and integrity, with a strong understanding of formalized approaches to system design and maintenance, policy development, and procedures
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix management structure and serve a broad range of clients and collaborators
  • Proficiency in data management tools and software such as SQL, R, and Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing data analysts or researchers
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and data visualization techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform and influence strategic decision-making
