Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking a licensed professional Civil Engineer to join our Stormwater Drainage team and assist both our Denver, CO, and Colorado Springs, CO offices. Qualified candidates must have 8 to 20 years of experience in water resources including stormwater, civil design, hydraulics and hydrology, and drainage. Candidates with industry experience and contacts in and around the Colorado Springs area are preferred.

Essential Job Functions


Project Management

  • Manage the design, permitting, and construction services for the assigned projects efficiently and responsibly.
  • Participate in adopting and improving design standards to enhance our practice.
  • Estimate scope and fee for new projects and assist with and creating proposal packages per company standards
  • Coordinate effectively with subconsultants, clients, and other agencies to deliver the project and maintain positive relationships
  • Manage budget through workload forecasting and resource allocation and communicate changes
  • Recognize the limits of scope and prepare change orders to accommodate project needs
  • Coordinate with other Wilson teams to provide and acquire information relevant to the project
  • Attend external business development and internal staff functions
  • Promote a culture of higher relationships, staff development, and recognition

Design

  • Complete site designs including utility plans and sewer infrastructure development
  • Prepare detailed grading and drainage plans
  • Produce stormwater management and erosion control plans
  • Develop stormwater master plans and similar studies
  • Create written reports to accompany stormwater and erosion control plans
  • Establish and implement calculation methods required by jurisdiction with the project team
  • Perform hydrologic calculations and modeling for a range of project sizes
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and modeling using various industry standard software methods
  • Analyze and design various stormwater control and outfall measures

Quality Control

  • Ensure that quality control procedures are maintained.

Client Relations

  • Work to maintain and grow our Colorado Springs Drainage Group and coordinate with Denver area clients
  • Maintain existing relationships with the City of Colorado Springs and other existing clients and work to grow opportunities with additional clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and government agencies and meet their expectations.
  • Remain sensitive to clients’ needs and prioritizing information that client needs.
  • Attend progress meetings for projects.

Staff Management

  • This position is anticipated to be split between our Denver office and our Colorado Springs office. It is expected the candidate will spend at least 25% of the time working out of the Colorado Springs office
  • Direct production staff and engineers on projects to achieve project goals and meet deadlines
  • Mentor junior staff to see that designs and plans are compiled properly, on time, and in a quality fashion.
  • Manage assigned workload and schedule effectively with given resources.
  • Communicate project expectations and schedule with project team
  • Maintain clear communication with the team lead about the schedule and deadlines of projects
  • Maintain a good rapport with all levels of staff members.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities with the project team.
  • Actively participate in and adhere to our safety program and ensure that all team members adhere as well.


Required Experience
  • Candidate must have a BS or an MS in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 8 to 20 years of experience in water resources including stormwater drainage
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain within 6 mos.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microstation Inroads. Experience with Open Roads is desirable
  • Experience and proficiency in performing drainage analysis, drainage planning, and drainage facility design
  • Experience with project management
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Excellent work ethic and a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles

Annual Salary range: $85,000.00-$145,000.00
