Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for training delivery drivers on a day-to-day basis on all aspects of the delivery driver job duties
Utilizes all company training guides, manuals, checklists, and processes to ensure compliance with company policies, practices, safety, and DOT regulations

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Performs preferred work method observations and provides verbal and written feedback on driver trainees' performance including suggested development actions
  • May run routes per business needs
  • Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Utilizes all systems and tools effectively, i.e., computer, software systems
  • Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (i.e., hours of service, pre-trip/post-trip, etc) and company safety policies and practices
  • Ensures all policies are followed
  • Delivers hands-on training that allows for maximum transfer of knowledge while ensuring customer needs, service times, labor and transportation costs are met and within guidelines
  • Provides ongoing and timely feedback to assigned driver trainees and supervisory staff
  • Feedback includes positive reinforcement and constructive corrective actions
  • Understands and exhibits strong customer service skills
  • Works with new driver hires and experienced drivers in classroom and/or field settings to prepare them for a successful professional driver career
  • May supplement PFG Driver Training Manual with local programs specific to the location, products and reports used in that market
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of route delivery driver experience specifically in foodservice distribution industry with in-depth knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
  • Experience with computerized fleet operations management systems
  • Valid CDL A
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Education: Associates/2-year technical degree
  • Preferred Experience: 4 - 6 years of Transportation experience specifically in foodservice industry route delivery with in-depth knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Computerized fleet operations management systems knowledge
  • Small group and one-on-one training experience
  • Preferred Professional Certification(s): Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL A)
