MANAGER
Responsibilities
Manage environmental, health, safety, security and sustainability activities to comply with all
applicable local, state and federal regulations and Babcock Laboratories EHS SOPs and poli-
cies, to prevent injuries to employees and negative impact to the environment.
Develop collaborative relationships with Lab Management and Staff to integrate EH&S pro-
grams into the daily laboratory activities, creating a culture of safety.
Promote a proactive safety culture, and manage site emergency plans.
Conduct EHS audits and inspections according to applicable established audit practices; com-
municates audit results, develops, and tracks remedial actions and action plans to promote
the sustainability of the company and assure compliance.
Develop, manage and maintain EH&S policies, procedures and recordkeeping to track inci-
dents, training, and corrective actions in alignment with company business objectives and
sustainability goals.
Conduct work area surveillance inspections, property damage and personal injury investiga-
tions. Leads or participates in incident investigations and the development of solutions and
corrective actions.
Develop an ongoing cycle of environmental topics that are communicated and ensure that
these topics are covered in regularly scheduled safety meetings.
Plan, develop and coordinate all safety and environmental training and audits.
Manage Workers Compensation cases/issues regarding employees, third party administra-
tors, state agency requirements, company attorneys and management; submit timely docu-
mentation/reports as required. Conduct and maintain records of training and workers com-
pensation medical, audits and compliance documents.
Coordinate, facilitate, and conduct employee safety training including New Employees Safety
Orientation and Safe Work Practices training.
Manage vendor partnerships to address facility maintenance and safety.
Assist in other various safety and environmental activities and assignments as needed.

Babcock Labs is seeking a full-time Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to will be responsible for the inter-
pretation of and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, and their reporting
requirements relating to health, safety and environmental issues (facilities) to include inspections, audits, compliance
and corrections within the assigned annual budget. The shift for this full-time position is Monday—Friday from
8:00am—5:00pm. *Some Saturdays may be required
The Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Occupational Safety & Health Management, or related
science/engineering degree preferred
5+ years of EHS Management experience. Experience managing facilities is required.
Related EHS certifications.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
Previous experience with independent or third-party audits, including inspections, audit
tracking and resulting corrective actions.
Strong knowledge of CalOSHA required. Experience dealing with regulatory bodies e.g.
OSHA. Cal/OSHA, EPA
Ability to quickly analyze information and make pragmatic decisions.
Ability to motivate others and gain buy-in as it relates to health, safety and environmental
issues/topics.
Demonstrated capability in managing multiple projects/tasks, effectively prioritizing tasks,
communicating project/task status and ensuring timely closure of assignments.
Evidence of highly developed communication skills including the ability to explain or train
a wide variety of audiences, and experience interacting with all levels of the organization.
Computer savvy.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to work weekends and non-traditional hours as needed.
