Position Purpose/Summary: The HR Field Generalist provides first response assistance to multi-site workforce needs including employee relations, HR compliance, employee satisfaction, culture impact, safety, learning/development, and other topics as needed. This position contributes to HR project work with other team members, sometimes in cross functional settings. As a collaborative team member, provides suggestions to better the workplace experience for the general workforce, as well as reduce waste with respect to time and cost. The FG wants people to want to work for us and so they do their job in a manner that brings success for others.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.

  • Creates productive rapport with management and workforce at assigned business locations.
  • Provides meaningful HR resources and services to workforce and management as situations occur or provides proactive guidance to improve the workforce experience.
  • Participates in project work as assigned.
  • Collaborates with other HR topic areas on employee related situations such as staffing, leave of absence, return to work, employee relations, performance management, or other reasons.
  • Assistants EHS as needed with employee related information or situations.
  • Participates in compliance data integrity audits as needed; ensures all work that is part of data collected is accurate and timely.
  • Maintains contemporary knowledge of HR regulatory rules and laws.
  • Crafts policies, job descriptions, and other HR centric documents as asked.
  • Provides data analysis both quantitative and qualitative as asked.
  • Creates power point presentations to explain plans, programs, solutions, or other ideas.
  • Completes work timely having acceptable quality level.
  • Partners with others to work as a team to tackle cross-functional dilemmas.
  • Conducts HR transactions including orientation, new hire check-ins, exit meetings, etc.
  • Ensure HR Helpdesk requests are properly assigned and/or resolved timely and completely.
  • Provides general HR topic support in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs which includes: compensation, benefits, leave administration, disciplinary matters, investigations, performance and talent management.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • Participates in employee engagement tasks and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • Topic certification with associated work experience may be considered.

Experience: 2 - 3 years of specific prior experience:

  • General competency of HR environment in a manufacturing setting and cross functional activity is highly desired.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed to achieve expectations set by others.
  • Exceptional detail ability with accuracy passion and able to provide meaningful data, analysis, and present reasoned outcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet all deadlines, having an appropriate sense of urgency for the assigned task.
  • Capable to work under pressure on a regular basis.
  • Strong ability to solve problems and apply sound judgement in dynamic situations.
  • Applies critical thinking and asks why? what else?
  • Demonstrated team member, fostering partnerships in cross functional activities and projects.
  • Comfortable to arrange work assignments so as to keep ahead of schedule, manage distractions, and not be overwhelmed by competing resources.
  • Can adapt to various demands on demand and maintain composure and clear head to respond with useful options and resources.
  • Knows technical HR regulations and compliance to navigate situations away from risk.

Technology/Software:

  • Excellent computer skills particularly with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and email.
  • Database and information management using HRIS is necessary, including ability to mine and report on information.

Communication:

  • Outstanding written, oral, interpersonal, and outward behavior communication ability.
  • Proficiency for listening well.
  • Demonstrated talent for understanding your audience and how to communicate your message effectively to them.
  • Comfortable in uncomfortable situations such as negotiation, unfavorable outcome of effort discussion, urgent and alarmist work volume, and other generally heightened situations.

Physical Capabilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May need to lift or move weight up to 20lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
