Summary/Objective

The role of the Human Resources Business Partner supports R.F. MacDonald Co. operations over 9+ locations and partners with additional Generalist team support. This position is responsible for performing Human Resources (HR) - related duties on a professional level, working with senior management in various locations within the organizations geographic scope. This employee will need to work well with team member to provide comprehensive coverage within Human Resources span and daily scope.

Essential Functions

  • HRIS Data Management - Module Implementation and Oversight
  • Benefits Administration and Leave Tracking
  • Payroll Administration and Pre-Processing
  • Federal and Multi-State Compliance, inclusive of ACA, EEO-1, New Hire, and UI Claims Reporting
  • Performance Management Tracking
  • Employee Life Cycle inclusive of Recruitment – Onboarding – Separation/Retirement (emphasis on Recruiting Cycle)
  • Develops contract terms for new hires, promotions and transfers.
  • Health and Safety Compliance & Reporting including Worker’s Compensation
  • Wage and Hour Laws and Practices, w/ State and Federal regulations and Employment Law Compliance
  • Feedback and Innovative Ideas towards current climate of HR processes Internal and External
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual leadership coaching needs. Create Training and Employee Development Curriculum Materials
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.

The candidate best suited for this position will have experience with all competencies within the realm of human resources, reaching into each area with some degree of work knowledge. The ability to address multiple job scope requirements within overlapping deliverables, and frequency of follow-up and feedback being a primary part of the work routine, will be why this individual will be successful.

This position requires well organized and documented work style, and utilization of system tools to keep deliverables and projects on task and time for completion. This is not an entry level opportunity, and the employer is looking for talent that truly enjoys multiple aspects of the work process daily and is motivated by new concepts and utilization of systems to ensure efficient work processes.

This role is a conduit for Senior Leadership, Mid-Level Management, and all Staff Levels, so being able to bring previous skill of coordinating and collaborating is going to be a huge plus and credit to the success of the position.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has in-direct supervisory responsibilities, and serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department and company. The position functions are given autonomy with occasional direction for projects, company and department initiatives, and scope of duty changes.


Required Education and Experience

  • 5 – 7 years of experience as a Generalist or Lead in Human Resources required.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field desired.

Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and/ 7 – 10 years of relevant human resource experience.


Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt full-time position. This position may require long hours and occasional work travel as job duties demand. Travel is occasioned to all RFM locations within its operating cities, with out-of-area and overnight travel expected. Employee must be able to access and travel to each department in the organization’s 9+ operations.
