UWM’s Center for International Education (CIE) develops, promotes and implements international education initiatives for students, faculty and staff, and our community. Within CIE, International Student and Scholar Services makes a vital contribution to the university’s research, diversity, and teaching missions by focusing on international student admissions and immigration advising, as well as visa sponsorship for the university’s non-U.S. citizen faculty, researchers, and visiting scholars.
Job Summary
The UWM Center for International Education seeks a full-time (100% FTE) International Services Representative (Immigration Processing Coordinator) to review and evaluate financial documents and communicate with admitted students and academic departments about required proof of funding. This individual will also:
  • Issue initial I-20
  • Ensure accurate arrival data for government compliance
  • Communicate with newly admitted students about the arrival process
  • Provide assistance with Change-of-Status applications
  • Manage deferral process for visa documentation
  • Participate in Virtual Sessions for Newly Admitted International Students
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Citizen or PR to serve as Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Official (ARO)
  • Strong ability to create written communication that is informative and clear as demonstrated in the cover letter addressing minimum and preferred qualifications
  • 2 years of experience working in an academic environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • 2+ years’ experience working with international students
  • Strong computer skills using PC Platforms and databases
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, SEVIS and/or Terra Dotta
  • Experience with institutional and/or regulatory compliance
  • Experience with financial documents
