Job description
Responsible for receiving, processing, and maintaining patient medical records and reporting patient information as requested, following HIPAA guidelines; assists with insurance verification and eligibility for the patients of West Georgia Eye Care Center.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive and document all requests for medical records release.
- Prepare and submit requests for medical records to other facilities, as requested, for continued quality patient care.
- Verify and obtain eligibility of insurance for scheduled procedures.
- Document information, in electronic medical record notes, regarding insurance eligibility, coverage and patient’s financial responsibility.
- Alert manager and surgery scheduler of any information regarding insurance coverage status for scheduled procedures.
- Notify patients of any insurance changes or to obtain additional information, as required.
