Medical Scribe/Medical Assistant

The MA/Scribe position for our private practice earns a wage of $17-20/hour, based on years of relevant clinical experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEDICAL SCRIBE/MEDICAL ASSISTANT

As a healthcare professional for our private practice, you play a critical role in helping our patients by ensuring their medical records are up to date and ensuring they receive the care they need. This role has aspects of a Scribe and Medical Assistant, with a heavy emphasis on Scribing.

You escort patients to their rooms in a timely manner after check-in. You document all exam findings and treatment plans as directed by the provider. By following the physician's lead in the exam room, you transcribe the history and physical exam of each patient in order to accurately document the physician's encounter with the patient. You list all proper diagnoses and symptoms as follow-up and record any prescriptions as dictated by the physician. You may also have the opportunity to assist the provider with the evaluation and treatment as well as attend to patient wounds, including the application of dressing, splints, and bracing.

In addition, you may also assist with the flow of patients by preparing examination rooms for new patients and discharging patients once evaluations are complete. You establish and maintain effective channels of communication with co-workers, contractors, and patients. You document the procedures that are performed by physicians and ensure that office visit notes are faxed over to primary care physicians. By following safety standards, you use all office equipment and materials in the appropriate manner. In addition, you maintain inventory to ensure our medical supplies are well-stocked and any outdated medications are discarded.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position's schedule will vary widely based on the provider they are assigned to but generally works Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-5:00 PM. Full-time and part-time positions available!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEDICAL SCRIBE

• Associate degree in a pre-med, pre-nursing, or a health-related field is highly encouraged
• 1 year of medical office-related experience or training OR combination of education and experience
• Minimum typing speed of 55 WPM
• CPR certification - can be obtained through on the job training at MSJ.
• Knowledge about electronic medical records
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Knowledge about Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge about filing systems, office machines, and equipment
• Ability to use basic math skills
