BayCare Health Systems is currently seeking an experienced Mental Health Technician III to join our outstanding and compassionate team at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.

St. Joseph’s Hospital Behavioral Health Center is a 145,000-square-foot, 60-bed inpatient psychiatric unit that offers 24-hour nursing care for adults and children 4 years old and up dealing with behavioral disorders and addictions. Our experienced team is comprised of psychiatrists, social workers, registered nurses, case managers and mental health technicians. St. Joseph’s Hospital Behavioral Health Center, part of BayCare Health System, is the only freestanding Baker Act-receiving private psychiatric hospital in Hillsborough County.

The Mental Health Technician III is responsible for:

  • Providing direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Performing a leadership role amongst other Mental Health Technicians through communication, education and mentoring of team members.
  • Ensuring that the team is consistently monitoring and observing patients to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Promotes effective communication and therapeutic relationships with patients and team members.
  • Maintaining and ensures appropriate boundaries with patients and team at all times. Promotes coordination of the unit by assisting with patient needs during entire length of stay in collaboration with the treatment team. Demonstrates flexibility in assignments to meet the needs of the facility.

Qualifications:


Required Certifications and Licensures:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Driver's License
  • CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
  • Patient Care Technician - preferred

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Master's degree in a related field in lieu of experience

Experience:

2 years Psychology
