As an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you will support a wide range of surgical and medical care for our diverse patient population. You will complete accurate patient histories and examinations, serve as second assistant to surgeons in the operating room, and order and administer parenteral medicines, bolus doses and transfusions upon request by your supervising physician. Your duties will also entail conducting outpatient evaluations, following up on surgical patients, and ensuring patient safety with assistive devices.
Advanced Practice Provider, APRN or PA Full- Time, Operative
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) is a full-time Operative position. Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) APPs are committed to personalized, high-quality healthcare and are held to the same legal and ethical standards of care as physicians and surgeons. This NP or PA position is based at the main hospital in the Upper East Side of Manhattan (New York, NY). This is a full-time position, working 3 shifts a week - 7a-8p with Saturday rotation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- First or Second assisting in sports and arthroplasty service OR.
- Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-ray.
- Prescribing medications and other treatments
- Managing patients' overall care developing individualized plan of care
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited PA program. Masters preferred. Current NYS Physician Assistant license and registration. NCCPA board certification
or
Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing. Current NYS License as a Nurse Practitioner and RN. Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner. RNFA preferred. The Nurse Practitioner is required to enroll in RNFA program within 6 months of employment. The NP, without an RNFA license, must have 2 years of operating room experience at HSS.
- DEA
- BLS/ACLS certification
- experience with an EMR (preferably Epic)
