Carbon Tracker Initiative is an independent financial think tank that carries out in-depth analysis on the impact of the energy transition on capital markets and the potential investment in high-cost, carbon-intensive fossil fuels. We believe that financial markets, regulators, investors and policymakers all have an urgent role to play in guiding the world to a climate-secure energy system. Carbon Tracker’s analysis of ‘unburnable carbon’, ‘stranded assets’, and ‘wasted capital’ has reframed the debate around climate change risk.

Carbon Tracker Initiative’s US entity is a charity that was established in 2017 and today has five team members.

Role

  • Hybrid, diverse role providing executive support to our Director and leading on the management of operations, HR and finance processes.
  • Reviewing existing processes, making recommendations for change and implementing same
  • Collaborate with our London team forming strong synergies and sharing best practice
  • Uphold our values of respect, accountability, efficiency and effectiveness and embed them into work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Executive support to the Director:
    • Meetings, travel and diary management, coordinating agendas and drafting documents.
  • Operations Management:
    • Develop, implement and manage best practice processes across HR, finance and operational areas.
    • Support Director on annual business planning process.
    • Assist the Director in ensuring that the US office complies with all legal obligations, including Health & Safety.
    • Supplier relationship management; rented office, mail delivery, IT equipment and support.
    • File management and maintenance.
  • People Management:
    • Manage the recruitment, onboarding and employee life cycle processes.
    • Manage adherence to our performance management process.
    • Further develop processes and policies in line with US law and Carbon Tracker’s culture e.g. Employee Handbook, Learning & Development, Reward.
    • Build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Finance:
    • Provide Group Head of Finance with budgets, forecasts and actual data for US.
    • Manage bank account, creditors and debtors, retain all documentation.
  • Project management:
    • Management and coordination of projects as and when required, liaising with global team for inputs.
    • Assist with data integrity and the delivery of the highest quality research, through adhering to quality control and production processes
    Required Experience and Attributes
  • At least 3-5 years of similar experience in an organisational hybrid, diverse role.
  • Experience in setting up business processes, policies and procedures.
  • Experienced with financial accounting spreadsheets.
  • HR knowledge and process experience preferred.
  • Highly organized, agile, methodical, meticulous attention to detail, strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • Can do attitude, strong initiative, adept at finding the best approach when working on something for the first time.
  • Confident, brings ideas and challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Discretion and confidentiality with sensitive company information.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional services and Not for Profit experience preferred.
  • Highly motivated, driven to grow and evolve role.
  • Passionate about climate change.
