Operations Manager Wanted to oversee and manage Canine Operations for NEADS in Princeton, MA

NEADS is searching for an Operation Manager with experience leading and supervising employees and volunteers to successfully lead the Canine Operations department. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the Weekend Puppy Raiser and Full-Time Puppy-Raiser programs, including recruiting, onboarding, educating, and retaining volunteer Weekend Puppy Raisers and Full-Time Puppy Raisers. The Operation Manager also oversees 3 Puppy-Raiser Instructors, the Program Trainer, and 2-3 Vet Technicians.

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Volunteers: Manage all aspects of the Weekend Puppy-Raiser and Full-Time Puppy Raiser programs, including:

  • Maintain and grow volunteer base through outreach to individuals, community-based organizations and groups, colleges/universities, and corporations as needed, working closely with the Communications Department;
  • Develop and maintain process to review applications and interview potential volunteers;
  • Manage orientation and onboarding process for new volunteers;
  • Maintain Salesforce database to track placement and movement of volunteers and dogs;
  • Engage with existing volunteers regularly and provide feedback and additional guidance as needed;
  • Maintain ongoing communications with volunteers through email newsletters and other collateral including Puppy Raiser Manual, website information, and other materials, working with the Communications Department.
  • Plan and execute volunteer appreciation and training activities.

Employees: This position requires a leader that can manage multiple programs and supervise various employees. The Operations Manager ensures clear messages are being conveyed to NEADS employees and volunteers and that all team members are appropriately sharing information, responding in a timely manner, and communicating appropriately and respectfully.

Experience coordinating and interacting with volunteers in a non-profit environment. Excelling problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues in real-time. Resilient, Self-motivated, Reliable, Well-organized with excellent Managerial skills. Must have strong technology skills and communication skills. Must have the ability to plan in advance for a variety of scenarios. Must work well as a contributing team member. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekend hours, outside of typical Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 5:00pm hours and travel regionally is required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Management skills required; additional education, canine specific certifications, or knowledge of dog behavior.

The salary range for this exempt position is $62,000 - $68,000; includes a full benefit package including health, dental, retirement with 5% company match, 3 weeks vacation, sick, and generous paid holiday time
