JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the PSR Supervisor. The PSR position provides support with the daily activities which includes greeting patients, providing registration, telephone coverage, appointment scheduling, and filing for clinic patients in accordance with company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greet patients and direct them to appropriate person or destination.
  • Assist clients with special needs as required.
  • Notify clinic staff upon patient arrival.
  • Answer telephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or take messages.
  • Provide registration and financial forms to patients and update required demographic information at the front desk.
  • Ensure new patient information is completed. Including patient registration according to protocols and ensure patient information is accurate, including updating demographic information according to protocols.
  • Collects payment from patients and reconcile cash receipts daily.
  • Enter confidential health information, and financial information into computerized system accurately including correct spelling.
  • Verify, update and enter insurance into billing system not limited to adjust effective date/term date of patient's insurance coverage.
  • Schedule appointments according to providers approved templates and ensure patients receive reminder calls. Assist providers with clerical tasks.
  • Obtain pre-certification as required by patients' health care insurers.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provides exemplary customer service; by treating patients and coworkers with courtesy and discretion.
  • Receives incoming mail, sort and distribute to appropriate person, destination, or file.
  • Attends staff meetings, trainings, and safety education and completes OSHA required courses.
  • Cross train with other clinic positions as appropriate and completes special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires High school diploma or GED, some higher education preferred
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience providing excellent customer service, preferably within a busy healthcare setting.
  • EPIC, medical terminology, and insurance verification experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively communicate information to patients, visitors and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Not applicable.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, typewriter, calculator, FAX, and photocopier. Ability to operate a cell phone.
