Job Summary

Under the supervision of the HR and Finance Directors, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for contributing to the finance and human resources needs of the Firm. The primary needs include, but are not limited to, full payroll cycle processing, time and attendance oversight, and benefits administration. The position will support HR and Finance departments with ongoing work and projects as needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage full payroll cycle for non-exempt and exempt employees
    • Partner with managers to ensure timely approval of timesheets
    • Process weekly payroll changes
    • Administer deductions including garnishments, benefits, 401k, etc.
    • Maintain payroll documents for processing and auditing needs
    • Process and enter HR changes in Dayforce
    • Assist employees with payroll questions
    • Resolve and document payroll discrepancies
    • 401k administration, compliance and advisory through the Fidelity system
    • HSA administration, compliance and advisory through the HSA Bank system
    • Assist in annual 401k audit
    • Complete year-end process: reconciliation and issuance of W2 and 1095
  • Benefits Administration and Maintenance
    • Run new hire eligibility report monthly and provide to Office Managers
    • Track monthly benefit enrollments
    • Process benefit enrollments, benefit changes, and benefit terminations
    • Ensure that benefits and deductions are accurate for payroll processing
    • Manage discrepancy reports from carriers and reconcile monthly invoices
    • Reconcile benefits accounts
  • Human Resources Administration
    • Provide PTO management
    • Process New Hires and Rehires in HRIS
    • Respond to Employment and Income Verifications
  • Prepare reports and conduct audits
  • Assist with other HR & Finance Projects as needed

Experience Requirement

  • Proven work experience as a payroll or benefits administrator or similar role
  • Three to five years in payroll processing
  • One to two years in benefits management (preferred)
  • Experience using Dayforce by Ceridian preferred (not required)

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR or related field
  • Payroll Certification a plus

  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to act in a professional manner, including exercising discretion, judgment and extreme confidentiality due to access to employee data
