POSITION OVERVIEW:

An orthopedic first assist - physician assistant or nurse practitioner (PA-C/NP) may diagnosis, examine and treat human conditions, ailments, diseases, injuries or infirmities either physical or mental by any means, method, device or instrumentalities authorized by the supervising physician. Reports to supervising physician and alternate physicians. Oversight provided by the Assistant Administrator, the Department Chair and/or Supervising Physician. Works cooperatively with: Providers, Healthcare Professionals, Allied Health Staff and Department Manager.


EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Graduate of PA-C / NP program.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of one-year experience as PA-C / NP in clinic or operating room setting preferred.
  • The PA-C / NP, as an employed provider, is expected to comply with all Service Standards and Policies and Procedures of the Great Falls Clinic. This is inclusive of all Customer Service Standards, Dress Code, and Physical and Mental requirements outlined and approved for this position.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Current state PA, certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Current CPR Certification required or Current Advanced Nurse Practitioner license

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of state laws, regulations and PA-C/NP scope of practice; responsibilities and procedures as applicable within licensure. Knowledge of acute and chronic care protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan.
  • Knowledge and skills in assessing patient health and analyzing psychological, socioeconomical, and emotional patient data and utilizing the information to provide appropriate advice, intervention, treatment or referral.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in an honest, direct, and respectful manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of how to utilize medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.

OTHER

  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
