Position Summary

The Quality supervisor is responsible for directing QA employees in scrap evaluation and enforcing SOA standards. They are also responsible for the QA lab and ensuring that both sand and iron samples are tested correctly and with he correct frequency.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor measured process data such as green sand properties and iron chemistry, and suggest changes/corrections to the process when needed.
  • Work to identify safety hazards within and without the department.
  • Initiate and execute quality improvement trials.
  • Maintain discipline, morale, and harmonious relations among subordinates.
  • Schedule, plan and assign work of subordinates.
  • Responsible for PM's and/or calibrations on all QA equipment.
  • Assign employees to inspect purchased product and help ensure that product meets quality standards.
  • Continuously learn about the process and pursue root cause analyses on casting defects.
  • Participate in AFS committees to stay current on industry standards and technology.
  • Enforce and interpret the standards of acceptance and participate in modifications when necessary.
  • Review and update process manuals annually.
  • Responsible for casting and tool weight records.
  • Look for continuous improvements in processes.
  • All job-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • High School diploma or GED required

Summary of Necessary Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

  • Strong people and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have technical writing skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel/Word along with basic computer skills.
  • Experience in green sand, gray iron, and vertically parted molding methods.
