Job Description

We are seeking a Research Associate to be a member of the Genomics lab in Wilmington, DE. The Genomics lab is part of the Data Analytics group in R&D at IFF and it provides Next Generation DNA/RNA Sequencing (NGS) and Real Time PCR support to R&D, Regulatory, and Manufacturing.

IFF’s R&D Center in Wilmington, DE, is a major R&D center of excellence for all biotechnology, including molecular biology & microbiology, biochemistry, host engineering, microbiome science, automation, and fermentation.

Responsibilities:

• The associate will be responsible for DNA/RNA purification, sequencing library preparation and QC, NGS DNA Sequencer and associated equipment operation, molecular biology method development, and interacting with project scientists for troubleshooting and implementing process improvements.
• The associate will divide their time between DNA sequencing, Real Time PCR, and other laboratory responsibilities. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Q-PCR, DNA/RNA purification, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing are essential.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience
• Basic molecular biology/biochemistry laboratory skills
• Strong inter-personal and effective written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and promote a safe working environment

Preferred Experience:

• Laboratory experience a plus
