Surgical/Billing Coordinator- OBGYN
Overview:
Square Care Medical Group in partnership with Unified Women’s Healthcare New York is currently seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated individual to fill the position of Surgical/Billing Coordinator in our ObGyn medical practice. Square Care Medical Group is the largest women's health organization on Long Island. We offer several specialties with 70 providers across 20 locations, and are a recognized leader in our industry.
The Surgical/Billing Coordinator is responsible for performing various tasks to ensure patients are receiving prompt and attentive care as well as timely billing of procedures. These duties include coordinating surgical procedures, collecting necessary documentation, prior authorization, insurance verification, and maintenance of health records. Other duties include charge entry of surgical procedures, obstetrical billing, and claim denial follow-up. This candidate will assist in promoting a positive patient experience as outlined in our mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities:
- Schedules surgical procedures within EMR under the direction of the Practice Manager and physician(s) in efficient manner
- Follows all guidelines relating to scheduling requirements.
- Confirms procedures are scheduled correctly, with appropriate equipment/orders.
- Verifies patient insurance benefits and eligibility.
- Collects and process patient balances, and credit cards on file.
- Obtains prior authorization when required.
- Answers patient questions and provides assistance and instructions.
- Works with Revenue Cycle Department to post and reconcile all surgical and obstetrical charges.
- Resolves claim denials in daily worklist
- Process messages within EHR for patients and providers relating to patient care
- Participates in revenue cycle forums and meetings as required
- Performs other duties as needed
- Maintains all compliance standards as determined by the Medical Group
Experience & Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience as a surgical scheduler or medical biller strongly preferred
- Polite, courteous, and compassionate disposition
- Contributes to a positive and caring workplace culture
- Works well in a team setting as well as independently
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and manage responsibilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Office365 (Word, Excel, etc.) knowledge required
- Electronic Health Record experience preferred
- Medical Terminology familiarity preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED required, Associates Degree preferred
