Test Engineer

Location: Tallapoose, GA, USA

This position will be part of the xEV Drive Unit team for Electric Vehicle products and will be responsible for functional test development, testing programs, process improvements and production support and for both New Product Introduction as well as Mass Production support. This position has direct contact with multiple departments within the manufacturing site and will support other departments for all testing related concerns.

Overall requirements of the Test Engineer are to ensure that products meet the required specification through on and off-line testing processes, ensure test programs meet testing specifications and ensure that equipment is verified and qualified for mass production. This position offers opportunities to work with a wide variety of aspects of the manufacturing processes, a wide variety of departments and levels of management within the company both domestic and international. Essential functions of this job include:

  • Confirm that equipment is maintained and working properly.
  • Ensure safety of High Voltage testing equipment for all associates.
  • Confirm that testing specification are meet and that test programs are fully vetted to include all required testing.
  • Assist other departments in setting up testing trials/experiments for customer/internal troubles testing.
  • Works with other team members (Process Engineer, Quality Engineers, Assy Engineer, Analysis Engineer, Maintenance, Technical Associates and Production (management and production floor personnel.)

Job Summary:

  • Plan, develop, build, and program functional test system.
  • Collect and analyze test performance data to make process improvements.
  • Support production for test related issues.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain test equipment.
  • Develop process documentation.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Education:

  • 4-year College Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

Experience:

  • Knowledge/experience with troubleshooting Test Equipment problems in both hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexible in working shifts as required to meet production schedules.
  • Experience in technical computer language and its applications.
  • Knowledge/experience with power electronics.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally required (up to 35%).
  • Intermediate experience required in Windows, MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Production and Location Start-up Duties:

  • Work within small team to develop manufacturing location and processes to support smooth mass production start-up of EV products.
  • Support Design team in development of testing specification and application of specification to the testing equipment for EV products.
  • Support PE test in development, manufacturing and installation of the testing equipment.
  • Develop testing program protocols, including secure storage, transfer to equipment, change point controls and verifications of equipment/products.
  • Typical NPI duties as detailed by internal Astemo and customer requirements for start-up of new product/location.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including all shifts and days as needed
  • Ability to work for long periods of time while sitting

  • Ability to lift 35lbs from floor to a height of 4ft
  • Ability to push or pull pallet jack up to 450lbs
  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen
  • Ability to travel for business (Domestic and Overseas).

Travel:

Requires 25% travel – Domestic and International (may include short term assignment in foreign country).
