World Electric is hiring a Transportation Manager to join our team in the Tampa or Hialeah Gardens area!


Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Transportation Manager is responsible for providing business and operational leadership while managing all duties related to the Outbound transportation department. The role will provide direction and oversight of the day-to-day operational functions in transportation. This will also include training, compliance, budgeting, reporting and administration.

This position works closely with and builds strong relationships with other departments to achieve a greater level of corporate performance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(Include the following; other duties may be assigned)

  • An integral member of the Supply Chain Team in developing strategic operational plans as well as enhance productivity and efficiency throughout the Company operations specific to transportation.
  • Lead and manage the rollout of the Innovo Route (TMS) System and the transition to the new RDC.
  • Work with Operations Managers to obtain truck lease quotations, approve final lease documents, and establish strong relationships with local dealers. Maintain truck files and World vehicle list to ensure timely renewal notification, accurate invoicing and attainment of all negotiated discounts.
  • Manage fuel card program including eligible driver list, purchasing limits, active card maintenance, monthly reporting, etc.
  • Work with Operations Managers to develop and maintain company-wide truck standards including equipment, appearance, capacity, and safety measures.
  • Oversee World’s 3rd party transfer system including carrier selection, contract negotiations, site readiness and arrangements for backup solutions when needed; monitor and report performance of transfer system carriers.
  • Responsible for selecting cost effective LTL carriers for outbound shipments in conjunction with Sonepar initiatives aimed at securing the best rates and carriers for World; review and approve LTL carrier billing, assist operations with use of the LTL bill of lading process and provide feedback on carrier performance
  • Stay current with DOT, OSHA and FMCSA regulations and recommendations; create and communicate World policy in support of standards and expectations to ensure compliance across all locations.
  • Develop and administer the database to track driver medical card status, driver qualification files, training, license status and other factors as needed to insure an available and adequate driver pool.
  • Participate in and follows all World policies, guidelines, and procedures (safety, Anti-Harassment, Ethics, and others).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience plus 5 years specific experience in the area of transportation and workplace safety with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Transportation and compliance experience. This includes fleet maintenance, DOT rules and compliance, and Transportation expense management.


Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of FMSCA/DOT and OSHA.
  • Ability to interpret government regulations and to keep World compliant.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and training/presentation skills including familiarity with reporting, presentation, and file management software.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read and analyze information and then apply it for process improvement
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and well organized.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and interact collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively work with, coach and influence managers and associates.
  • Ability to explain information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to partner with Finance and Human Resources to manage resources.


General Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines.
