UNIT CONCIERGE

Full Time, Part Time or Weekends Only | Day and Evening Hours | 4 or 8 Hour Shifts

** Starting pay rate up to $16.42/hour **

The Unit Concierge primary responsibility will be to provide great customer service to residents and families, welcoming residents and families to the unit, offering valuable support to the unit and answering basic needs of the residents and families. Top priorities within their role include assisting with administrative duties, passing supplies, answering call lights for basic resident needs/requests, checking in on residents and families daily and offering support when needs are requested, assisting with meal service delivery to enhance the overall dining experience as well as perform non-clinical support duties related to the comfort of the residents and families, and supporting overall unit needs.

What will I do as a Unit Concierge for The Wesley Community?

  • Act as a front facing friendly unit spokesperson, offering excellent communication skills to give additional support to residents, families and visitors and supporting the unit staff as needed.
  • Provide ongoing support to family, resident and visitors entering the unit- greeting them, directing them as appropriate and answering any questions or following up to any requests.
  • Checking in with residents and visitors throughout the day to offer face to face support.
  • Introduce residents to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate.
  • Provide welcoming support to new residents and families by meeting them at the front entrance or off the elevator and getting them acquainted to the unit and team. Ensure that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, equipment in bedside stand.)
  • Inventory and mark the resident's personal possessions as instructed.
  • Provide overall unit support by assisting with ensuring the overall appearance of the unit is neat and organized, and entering maintenance tickets if environmental concerns are identified.
  • Be attentive to unit needs by communicating & collaborating with the Unit Coordinator, Charge Nurse and front-line nursing staff daily in order to conduct non-related nursing tasks that may free up nursing staff members and offer a positive experience among the unit.
  • Round the unit routinely and Answer resident calls promptly & ensure call lights are within reach.
  • Respond to resident and visitor requests/questions/needs promptly to enhance customer service experience. This might include getting answers to questions they may have, checking in on families and residents during visits to offer face to face support, building relationships and ensuring their basic needs are met.
  • Spend free time with residents for engagement (read, chat, informal activities, - prevent restless behavior & redirect residents when necessary)
  • Ensure hallways are free and clear, beds are made and rooms are tidy, linens/supplies are restocked in res. rooms, passing supplies, Empty dirty linen bags or Change garbage bags in resident's rooms and bathrooms as necessary to ensure the unit remains tidy.
  • Become knowledgeable of Department of health environmental and clinical regulatory items to ensure areas are being met- or assisting with compliance (ex: ensure disinfection supplies are being restocked, meal service is following DOH requirements, etc) to ensure the unit is always ready for DOH inspection.
  • Assist with Resident Meal Service to ensure a great dining experience for the residents including tray pass, menu explanation and assisting with resident transport to/from the DR.
  • Responsible for setting up dining room tables prior to meal service including filling condiments, offering clothing protectors, ensuring resident hands are washed prior to meal service, silverware is placed, cloth napkins are setup with placemats, music playing.
  • Assist with meal clean up following meals.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen areas in the dining rooms including refrigerator and discarding outdated items and entering maintenance tickets if environmental concerns are identified.
  • Work with Alzheimer's Engagement Coach and Director of Life Enrichment to collaborate on engagement opportunities and dementia specific tasks when specific residents are in more need of 1:1 support (ex; resident yelling out, aggressive).

Unit Concierge Requirements:

  • High School graduation or GED, preferred.
  • No prior experience necessary!
  • Customer Service Experience, preferred.
  • Excellent Communication and Customer Service Skills
  • Great Follow-up/Organizational Skills
