This Finance Administrator role supports NextWorld Philanthropies and related investment activities as part of our shared resources for general administration and information sharing across the organization.

Erol’s grantmaking priorities work to advance climate action, regenerative food systems, methane reduction, and climate communications.

836M is a nonprofit organization and gallery with a mission to ignite people's hearts and minds through live artistic and cultural experiences. 836M’s programming includes gallery exhibitions, film screenings, and events beyond the gallery walls, including public spaces in San Francisco and in Europe.



Reporting Line

This Finance Administrator position reports directly to the Assistant Controller and secondary to the Managing Director of NextWorld Philanthropies.


Role & Responsibilities

Grants Administration

  • Process grant agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Initiate grant disbursements
  • Facilitate the grant agreement process by coordinating with program, legal, finance, and international teams
  • Prepare grant reporting to stakeholders
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of organizational impact reporting
  • Maintain grant agreements and other relevant records, such as grant budget, timeline, renewal, etc., on Affinity, Dropbox, Microsoft Planner, and Sage Intacct ERP system


Accounting Administration

  • Enter financial or statistical transactions into an ERP system
  • Process and upload Expensify to the accounting ERP system
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Assist accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Review and approve expense reports against the expense policy
  • Organize and maintain the finance filing and storage systems (digital and paper) – on Egnyte and Dropbox
  • Assist the Leadership team in the execution of confidential and time-critical finance documents. This covers a wide range of documents and may include, but is not limited to, items such as:

- 990 PF & other tax filings,

  • bank account opening documentation, and
  • entity organization registration, reporting, and filing
  • Assist in the budgeting process for NextWorld Philanthropies


Other Administrative Responsibilities

  • Social Media administration – facilitate posting content to social media channels, including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram, for the NextWorld Philanthropies team
  • Serve as an 836M gallery docent when needed
  • Participate and assist in the organization-wide ESG processes
  • Assist ERP implementation and ongoing system administration


Skills necessary for the role:

The Finance Administrator demonstrates care, diligence, and rigor in the role. Most importantly, a desire to learn. Their responsibility is first to the organizational interests of NextWorld, which means that they need to bring objectivity and thoroughness to their actions and recommendations.

A strong candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree is required; additional professional experience or certification is a plus
  • Clear written and oral communication
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, Tasks (Planner), Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Be a careful steward of resources who assists the Finance team in budgeting, planning, and managing crucial vendor costs
  • Utilize soft skills to work with all levels of the organization; disciplined and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize key responsibilities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously; highly organized, with acute attention to detail
  • Committed to ESG framework and processes
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback
  • Ability to administer and carry out organizations’ internal financial control policies
  • Some familiarity with financial information system applications is a plus (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct, MS Dynamic, or any other similar application
  • Familiarity with non-profit management is a plus

This exempt, full-time, five-day in-person position is in the Jackson Square Area of San Francisco, California. NextWorld offers an excellent benefits package (medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, 3% of salary contributed to your 401K)), and a competitive salary.

Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 - depending on experience, with a 5% - 10% potential bonus.
